FAQ > Questions for facebook and twitter users

1. How do move up in the rankings?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

You move up by earning points. The Alltime charts tallies up your points from the beginning, and the monthly and weekly charts tally up your points for the current month or week only.

Bonus points for one-time actions (like siging up to the newsletter) are added to the alltime charts but are also added every month and every week to the monthly and weekly charts

You can also earn points by updating your facebook status or tweeting using the keywords provided by the artist/brand. The more people take action (like, comment, RT) when you update your facebook status or tweet, the more more points you’ll earn

2. How do I earn points?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

You earn points by updating your facebook status or tweeting using the keywords provided by the artist/brand. The more people take action (like, comment, ReTweets) when you update your facebook status or tweet, the more more points you’ll earn.

You can also earn bonus points for one-time actions like siging up to the newsletter. Those bonus points are added to the alltime charts but are also added every month and every week to the monthly and weekly charts

3. Some status updates and tweets are scoring a lot more points than others. How come?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

That’s because those comments are being liked, commented on and retweeted by other users. The more people take action when you update your facebook status or tweet, the more more points you’ll earn

4. What is my fanweight?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

Your Fanweight is your influence score (from 0 to 100) as a fan of a specific facebook page. Many variables enter in your fanweight calculation. We take into account the size and influence of your engaged audience (number of friends, number of unique likers and unique commenters) as well as your ability to generate discussions around the artist/brand (likes and comments per status update about #artistname)

Linking your twitter account to Fanrank also helps increase your fanweight. Amongst other things, we take into account your follower/follow ratio, your inbound/outbound message ratio and how often you get retweeted when you talk about the artist/brand

5. How do I collect rewards?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

If someone with a facebook page who has installed fanrank is offering rewards to their fans through Fanrank, the administrators of that facebook page are responsible for sending those rewards to their top fans. If you need to get in touch with someone regarding your rewards, please contact the administrator of the facebook page for which you were fanranked. Unfortunately Fanrank can’t help you here.

6. How do I earn points on facebook?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

To earn points on facebook, you can post a status update that uses one of the keywords either via the Fanrank dashboard, via facebook directly or any other client you use to update your facebook status. You’ll earn a lot more points as soon as someone likes your status and even more points when someone comments on your status updates

7. How do I earn points on twitter?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

To earn points on twitter, all you have to do is tweet using one of the keywords either via the Fanrank dashboard, via twitter directly or any other client or mobile app you use to tweet.

You’ll earn a lot more points when those tweets are retweeted

8. Do I need to tweet or update my status from the Fanrank app to earn points?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

Nope. You can also update your facebook status or tweet from any place that you normally tweet. Just be sure to use the keywords

9. If I post the same message and over, will I earn points?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

You can still earn points but you will earn A LOT less than if your updates/tweets were being liked and commented on and retweeted (think 100s of times.) Also, posting irrelevent messages or spamming will drive your fanweight down… and your friends will hate you.

10. Where exactly can I post on facebook to earn points?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

Currently  you can only earn points for likes and comments on your own status updates. You won’t earn points for likes and comments on an update that you left on someone else’s wall.

11. How do bonus points for one-time actions work?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

You can earn bonus points for one-time actions like siging up to the page’s newsletter, liking the page on facebook…

Those bonus points are added to the alltime charts but are also added every month and every week to the monthly and weekly charts

Don’t try to cheat. You can only earn points once for liking a page. If you unlike the page, you will lose your points

12. I’ve been a long time fan of the page. Will you take into account any activity from before I signed up?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

Yes! If you’ve always been a fan of the artist/brand and were already talking about them in your status updates and tweets, you will notice points right away when you sign up for your previous activity relating to the them.

Similarly, if you’ve been listening to an artist for a long time, when you link your last.fm account you will be rewarded with points for every scrobble

13. My latest post isn’t showing up in the activity feed. What’s happening?

Keyword: Spaide RIPPER

Just be patient, it can sometimes takes a few minutes for your post to show up. Don’t worry, you’ll still earn the same amount of points.
